Common Questions
Used these FAQs to help you understand how our business works.

Q) How long does it take to build a website?
A) The timeframe depends on the project size.

Q) How much does it cost to build a website?
A) Depending on the route you choose, a project can run in the hundreds of dollars and even go as high as thousands. However we work closely with our customers during the consultation period to only give them what they need and can fit into their budgets. We understand that budgets come in all sizes, shapes and forms; so we try to be sensitive to this.

Q) Why can't you tell me exactly how much the site will cost in a moments notice?
A) We do custom websites, so we don't have preset amounts to XX amount of pages and XX amount of content or hours, etc. We prefer to not just give out a number/quote without going through the proper process of learning more about your business, what you want to do with your website and what kind of time and work it may take. By taking the time to meet with our staff it allows you to share your vision or plan for the project. This helps us gauge your needs and expectations and then based on those things provide you with a fair and accurate quote for the job. In our history by doing this, we've not experienced any trouble and most customers get it all in up front. So there is no need to tack on extra work or charges after the initial quote has been signed and agreed upon.

Q) What is required of me to have a site built?
A) First of all we require a time where we can discuss your needs and goals, uninterrupted. Once we have an idea of what your needs are, we will create a custom quote for your project and submit it to you for approval. Upon acceptance of a bid, you will then be required a 50% non-refundable deposit for the graphic design work. Next you will be placed into our queue for a timeframe in which we can begin your project. After your website design has been reviewed and is signed off by you or your team, we will require your website content to begin. We will not begin working on your website build until we have all of the content for the site. The reason for this is to expedite the process of creating and launching your website by having everything we will need. Once the content has been submitted to DMI Graphics, we will require the remaining 50% to cover the costs of the web site development and begin building. Please read the following FAQ to understand the difference in the two halves of our process.

Q) Web Design vs. Web Development "building/construction"
A) The web design is the layout, look and feel, colors, etc. of the website. This can be compared to when someone is going to build a new house. They must first have a qualified architect or designer design the blueprints for their home. The development or building process is just that. It is when our staff takes the layout/blueprints for your website and turns a design into something functional. Kind of like when you find a home builder or construction crew who takes your blueprints and turns them into a house. The website content is simply the supplies it takes to fill in the empty spaces and make the website rich and full of content and information that will make your site useful and inviting.

Q) Why do you charge for consultations?
A) We charge for consultations because if we are spending time building a website for a client or talking to an existing or potential client, all the same it takes time and comes with a cost. We offer a courtesy consultation period for new or potential customers within certain parameters.

Q) Custom Web Design vs. Template Sites
A) A custom website is unique to you, your business or family. It is one of a kind and can look like and perform in almost any way you want it to. It may come with more costs at times, but also comes with more flexibility and control whereas a template site is just that. A copy of a design that is often basic, common and does not contain a personal touch. Yes you can add or change links and text in templates, but you are restricted to the original designers goals and likes. You can purchase off templates so no other person is able to buy a copy of it in the future, but that doesn't mean it is original and that only you have a copy like it. If another person has already purchased a copy of the particular template you like, they still have the rights to use it as long as they wish. This applies even after you have paid to take it off the market. Custom work is always more satisfying and effective and sets you apart from the millions of other websites that already exist. Be different and have it built. You'll be happier in the end and you will save yourself the headache of having the start over later.

Q) What is a domain name and why do I need one?
A) Domain names are just like street addresses. Only on the internet there aren't "101 N Main Street" addresses. They are what are called IP addresses which are a series of numbers. The web is full of ip addresses and they are commonly shared. But let's say you decided you would just purchase an ip for yourself so you didn't have to share it. It would still be easier to send someone to www.yourdomainname.com versus 74.29.84.104. Plus it's a lot easier to remember a word or phrase than a long and broken up number like that ip address. A domain name points to that number or ip address so your friends or customers can still easily find your home on the web. Plus for around $15 per year, you can own your own domain name and have fun with it. We personally exclusively use WeekendRUSH Domains and recommend it. Q) Do you offer web hosting?
A) Our sister company DMI Web Hosting offers great hosting services. Learn more at www.dmiwebhosting.com.

Q) I am using AOL for my email, but do I really need it?
A) Once you have a domain name and web hosting setup, you will already have email accounts available to you. So you can eliminate another expense and actually save more by using your domain name for email. Plus, every time someone sees your email address, they will ultimately see your website address. It's great for marketing!

Q) I see what I want in my website on other sites. Can you do something similar for my website?
A) This is a good question and a smart one. In most cases we can review other websites and gather great ideas for a new website. As long as what you want does not break involve stealing code or designs, we will be happy to accommodate your request and create something with the same likeness or functionality as best as possible.

Q) Who do I write the check to?
A) DMI Graphics

Q) What credit cards do you accept and is my information secure?
A) We accept all major credit cards accepted across the U.S. and your personal information is secure and processed through a secure ecommerce banking gateway.

Q) I need a project done soon. Can you do it?
A) As long as the customer gives us good enough notice and is able to provide us with the required materials and meets their financial obligations in a timely manner, we should be able to process a job in short order. However, this all depends 100% on the timing and availability. We work on a first come, first serve basis. Those who have deposits and are in line will come first. However we will try to fit your emergency into our schedule whenever possible. Please note that emergency / after hours work is subject to additional charges. Contact our sales team for details.

Q) Can I choose the colors of my website?
A) We will provide you with a suggestion for skin design, layout and colors. However if you already have a theme in mind, we will gladly try to fit it into your request and create professional results.

Q) Do I have to maintain my website when it is complete?
A) Yes. The customer is solely responsible for all web updates and changes after the site has been released by DMI Graphics. Whenever you need changes, we do offer our services at a regular hourly rate with a minimum of one(1) hour charge.

Q) Why is your logo or link on the sites you build?
A) We reserve the right to include a logo or text link as a credit to our work where it fits within the design of a website. We will not make our presence obtrusive or distracting from the main site content. However this is how we gather new business and is also how people know when it is our work. We do reserve the right to remove or request the removal of our logo and/or text links at any time. The customer will be required to fulfill the request in a reasonable amount of time.

Q) Why would you want me to remove your logo or link from my website?
A) The main reason we would do this is if the customer is maintaining and web mastering the website and makes changes the affect the final look and appearance of the design to the degree that is does not have the original look from the time of release. If we feel that at this point the website does not represent the work we have done, we will simply request the removal of our logo or text-link providing credit to our company. You may not say that you or any other person or company are the designer or developer of websites or content designed and developed by DMI Graphics or DMI Web Services.
Another reason we may request the removal of DMI branding or linkage is simply if the site undergoes a rebuild by another design firm or yourself. We do not deserve credit where we have not worked on a project, so it would only be fair to give credit to the then current designer.

Q) Can you build a site in foreign languages?
A) Yes, we can do this. However the customer must provide all text in the desired language and all translations must be final upon submission to DMI Graphics. We will not be responsible for mistakes or corrections to the copy. We can provide translation services at an additional charge for time spent on the work. Please contact our sales department for details.

Q) How long will it take to be on search engines after my site goes live?
A) Search engines can find your site within days. But it could also take months or years to show up on search engines. This is why we take every step possible to make your website search engine optimized. This is a service we include in most web site projects and can also perform this process for an existing website. Contact DMI sales for custom quote. We do not guarantee search engine inclusion, or even provide an estimated timeline for inclusion of your website in any or all of the search engines.

Q) Is my website an advertisement?
A) Absolutely not. You can build a house, but until you tell people where it is, they don't know it's even there! You must take every step possible to market your website and to get the word out about your new web presence. This is a service we provide outside of web design and development that can help you grow your level of exposure to the public. Please contact us about online marketing and advertisements, search marketing, organic exposure online, and other offline marketing methods, concepts and services.

Q) Do we have to host our website with you?
A) No you are not required to host your website with our partner hosting businesses. But when we are able to have more control over the environment in which you will be hosted, the setup of special or unique requests can be better tended to.

Q) If you give me a quote, how long is it good for?
A) Generally a timeline is discussed when meeting for a quote and that generally determines the length of time in which the quote will be good for. However we do not guarantee any quote for any amount of time. The only way to truly secure an exact rate for a project is to sign an agreement and make your initial deposit. This is not a way to lock us into a job, however we will work with you to secure your project within a timeline that will allow you to produce the necessary budget. If you receive a quote and do not have the funds at the time to move forward with the job, we will be happy to reassess your needs in the future based on current industry practices and the then current rates for DMI services. If a client signs a contract and pays the down payment, but does not follow through causing the account to be breached or voided, DMI will release the work that has been paid for and consider the current project closed. Later work can be renegotiated at a later time. Please keep in mind that as our economy grows and industry standards progress, the time and costs may go up from time to time. Please stay advised through our website for current rate information as well as if we are accepting new clients. We will not overbook our staff so we can provide the time and attention to producing professional work for our existing clients.

Q) What are your policies for working with your business?
A) We offer business policy and practice information throughout the dmigraphics.com web site. So please take the time to navigate through each section of our website and to read every detail of each policy to better understand how we do business. These policies are posted so there should be no questions as to how or why we do things certain ways. They are here for both your and our benefits and help us keep the line of communication clear between our business and our clients.

Q) How can you provide such quality services at such competitive rates?
A) DMI Graphics is and has always been a wholly owned subsidiary of sinAsylum. And because sinAsylum is a privately owned company, it and all of it's businesses are able to make decisions based on the customer's best interest and do not have the pressure of public share holders that  publicly traded companies have.

Q) Can I buy stock in your company?
A) As stated in a previous FAQ post. DMI Graphics and it's parent company are privately held businesses. So we do not offer shares or stocks at this time. If you are looking for companies to buy stock in, please visit our partner WeekendRUSH Finance at http://finance.weekendrush.com/ and do a stocks search.

Q) What types of websites do you or don't you build?
A) We have built many different types and sizes of websites. However we are always open to new categories or types of design and content. We will not build websites that are to contain "adult only" and/or any illegal content. These types of websites bring trouble and attract problems through various means. So we choose not to associate ourselves with them. However if you wish to have a website like this built there are many private designers who will do so for you. We do not provide recommendations and discourage these types of websites as they do not benefit the online community in any way. Our goal is to create effective, positive websites that are useful for all audiences. Our client base includes clients from all backgrounds and If we can't show it to them as a part of our public portfolio, we won't do it. This does not apply to work where we are partnering with other web design firms to assist in a project.

Q) What if my web design firm is too busy. Will you work with us to complete a project in a timely manner?
A) Based on our current schedule and availability, we will try to work with your company. But the guidelines provided in this website must still be followed when it comes to policy, content and types of websites. Partner projects that may wish to leave the DMI brand and link out of the credits may incur additional charges. Also, please note that if we do certain areas of work, even if they do not carry our name as the developer or designer, you do not have the right to say that you or your company did the work. We will find you, take legal action immediately, we will be sure to put the work out online of your actions, and will never work with you again.

Q) What if I am a webmaster wishing to have assistance with a project or just have questions? Can I call you?
A) Yes you can call us. And depending on our schedules, one of us may be able to help you immediately. This would be considered a consultation and these types of consultations are not included in courtesy consultation period. So you will be charged for the entire phone call. Please have your credit card number and billing information ready when you call.
